How to register for the 2027 election, check your details, and help family and friends at home do the same.
Check your registration
INEC runs voter registration for 2027 through its Continuous Voter Registration portal. Registration ran in phases through 17 August 2026, and the national register was nearing 100 million as of September 2026. INEC publishes the registration dates; check the portal for the current window.
The same portal lets a registered voter check their record, update their details, or transfer their polling unit.
The diaspora's part
Nigerians living abroad cannot vote from outside Nigeria under current law. The Electoral Act and Section 77(2) of the Constitution require a registered voter to cast their ballot in person at a polling unit in Nigeria. A bill to change this is before the National Assembly.
Until that changes, the diaspora's part is to help family and friends at home register, check their details, and vote.
